Election Day is here, and for the millions of Californians who have already voted, there are steps they can take to make sure their ballots are counted.

Here is how to make sure your vote is counted.

Mail-in ballots on Election Day

For voters submitting mail-in ballots on Election Day, the safest option for making sure your vote is counted is to drop off the ballot at a voting site before they close at 8 p.m.

Kim Alexander, president of the California Voter Foundation, a nonpartisan voting organization, said that while ballot drop boxes will still be an option for ballot submissions on Tuesday, voters should double check the hours on their chosen drop box to ensure it’s still open.

For those who intend to mail their ballots, Alexander said to make sure they get it in a mailbox that has not yet been collected for the day. To be counted, ballots must be postmarked by Tuesday, meaning they have to be in a mail carrier’s haul back to the post office before the end of the day. Voters can also mail their ballot directly at their nearest post office to make sure it’s received in time. (Full Story)
