May 1, 2019

Hi Folks,

big day of giving 2019Big Day of Giving is almost here! As we did last year, CVF is joining with hundreds of other nonprofits in the Sacramento area to raise money together on May 2.

Sponsored by the Sacramento Region Community Foundation, BDOG2019 provides a user-friendly platform for nonprofit donors to learn about organizations and make a secure, online donation.

Please check out our profile at www.bigdayofgiving.org/cvf and schedule your donation today!

Last year CVF raised $10,000. For 2019, we are aiming to reach $12,000. To encourage those donations, the CVF Board of Directors has created a $6,000 matching fund.

We'lll be posting updates to Facebook and Twitter (hashtag #BDOG2019) and really appreciate your support and shares on social media as well!

Support Democracy, Give to CVF on Big Day of Giving May 2!

Now more than ever, voters need access to reliable voting information to help them make informed choices, cast a ballot, and trust that their ballots will be accurately counted.

The California Voter Foundation has worked for over 25 years to improve the voting process and ensure voters can cast ballots with confidence.

CVF needs your support to continue our important work as we head into 2020. For the Sacramento Region’s Big Day of Giving on May 2, please consider donating to CVF and helping to strengthen democracy.

Since 1996, CVF’s web site, www.calvoter.org, has continuously helped voters follow the money, look up their registration or ballot status, and access the most trustworthy, nonpartisan voting information online. Calvoter.org averages a million visits per year and has delivered over 61 million page views since 2004.

Voters also want to know their ballots are accurately counted. That’s why CVF has championed election security, leading the effort in California and beyond to require paper ballots and pushing for increased funding to help counties upgrade their voting equipment to secure the vote.

Your support will help CVF prepare voters for the 2020 California primary and Presidential election. Californians are well-positioned to have more influence than ever in selecting the nominees thanks to our earlier-than-usual primary taking place on March 3. Because of changes to some counties’ voting methods, coupled with California’s complicated “closed Presidential Primary” process, CVF will need to work extra hard to minimize voter confusion so Californians can maximize their right to vote.

CVF is also:

  • Helping the Secretary of State develop regulations for risk-limiting audits, a new post-election verification process being piloted in 2020;
  • Working to reduce the number of voters disenfranchised through vote-by-mail ballot envelope signature problems;
  • Creating online maps to help voters track their county’s voting method, voting technology and voting equipment vendor; and
  • Developing online resources for voters who want to host ballot parties and observe vote counting and post-election audits.

Please help us reach our goal and support CVF with a tax-deductible and generous Big Day of Giving donation!

Donations can be made online through the Sacramento Region Community Foundation’s secure Big Day of Giving site, or through CVF’s PayPal site, or by check to CVF, sent to PO Box 189277, Sacramento, CA  95818.
