Hi Folks,
Many California congressional and legislative races remain too close to call. CVF's new Close Count Transparency Project launched earlier this week and we are tracking eleven congressional races, the outcome of which will help decide which party controls the House of Representatives next year. Six close legislative races have been added to the CVF tracker as well. Since Wednesday, some margins narrowed, some widened, and another congressional race, CD 40, was called by the Associated Press.
The big news yesterday was the Secretary of State's release of the Unprocessed Ballot Status report, answering a big "known unknown" - there are an estimated 5,472,423 ballots remaining to be processed statewide. Please see CVF's Close Count Report #2, summarizing the status of close races as of Thursday, Nov. 7 and providing the estimated total number of ballots remaining to be counted in the counties that are home to these districts.
While we now know how many ballots are left to process in each county, we don't know how many remain to be counted in specific districts that are still too close to call. Read today's Close Count report for more details and visit www.calvoter.org/closecount to follow along and learn more about our project. We will update our tracker later this evening and then expect a lull in counting over the three-day weekend.
